This digital screen saver brings together five different versions of Baudelaire’s poem À une passante.

In this ongoing body of work, Mason’s text pieces act as digital ‘palimpsests’ (reusable manuscripts), revealing new narratives as different texts entwine. Seeming to result in a tendency to watch rather than read, À une passante brings to mind questions around authorship and our engagement with text on screen.

Scott Mason is an artist based in Rutland. He graduated from MA Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art (2011), and has shown work at Outpost Norwich, Aspex Portsmouth, Flat Time House London and OTR Madrid. He is currently a CCW Graduate Fellow at the University of the Arts, London.
