Nuala Clooney

Nuala Clooney is a cross disciplinary artist, who creates part-objects that play with notions of intimacy, objectification and subjectivity and examine the sensuous fluids that interplay and intermingle self and other, the dark viscous spaces between felt and feeling. Often her objects have been fashioned by her own mouth for it to be returned to the mouth – the mouth of the audience/diner.

Nuala has developed work for a variety of contexts including Barts Pathology Museum London and the Art and Science Festival Birmingham. She recently undertook a research residency in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham.

Alongside her studio practice, Nuala works in collaboration with other artists to develop and deliver research projects with exhibition, performance and immersive dining outcomes. That explore multi-sensory perception and bodily experience.

Nuala is currently an artist in residence in our BCU graduate workspace.
