Besse, a Trilogy ‘Water, Hops & Rye’ was a three part series of short operas written and composed by Infinite Opera. In collaboration with Digbrew and Grand Union, Besse merged the worlds of beers and opera through the unique vision of a character that champions feminism through fermentation.
Hops, the second part of this event series, took place at Digbrew on Friday 12 April at 8pm.
With knowledge of the rising patriarchy Besse takes action to regain control of her beer. However, in a storm of accusations, her actions take force beyond her control. There will be a 5 minute ‘previously on Besse’ prior to the performance if you missed part 1 of the opera series.
Beer for part II, Hops: ‘Maleficarum’. IPA made with Chevallier heritage malt (derived from cryogenically frozen barley from the oldest period of brewing we can get our hands on). Limited edition 440ml can was included in ticket price.
