Snuff 1976 Screening + Q&A with Joaquín Aras at the Electric Cinema
Wednesday 11 September, 6 – 8pm (Book your free ticket via our website) 

In Snuff 1976 Aras remakes the entire soundtrack to the Northern American low budget film Snuff, produced in Argentina. A two channel video, Snuff plays through one channel and the process of remaking the soundtrack in the other. 

Creative Translation Workshop with writer & literary translator Jen Calleja

An experimental and accessible translation workshop exploring the approaches of a literary translator. No knowledge of languages other than English is necessary. 

We are both invisible, a discussion with curator Sophie J Williamson

An afternoon of readings, artist films and conversation exploring the murky, slippery space of communication and translation between the self and the other. 

Memory as a contestatory force, a talk with Dr Lorraine Ryan
Thursday 17 October, 6pm – 7pm 

Lorraine Ryan will share her research on collective memory and the modes through which dominant memory is disrupted or resisted and counter-memories emerge. 

– Dyfodiaith Screening + Q&A with Paul Eastwood
Friday 1 November, 6pm – 7pm 

In Dyfodiaith, Eastwood explores the constructs of language, notions of otherness and the potential of multilingualism through a future-past language.
