Louise Hobson in Collaboration with Grand Union

We are delighted to announce that curator Louise Hobson, has been awarded a Research and Development grant from the Arts Council of Wales to work collaboratively with Grand Union to develop an exhibition and associated public programme.

Based in Cardiff, Wales, Louise is a former participant of our 2017 Curatorial Curriculum – an alternative learning programme for early career curators.

At the beginning of 2018, we invited Louise to undertake a curatorial research residency with Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo in Montevideo, Uruguay and with La Ira de Dios in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This residency was supported by the British Council and took place across April – May 2018.

Louise will be working with three Latin American artists: María Agustina Fernández Raggio, Paola Monzillo and Joaquín Aras. Collectively, their practices explore personal and national memory; relationships between memory and history; individual and collective power; centres, peripheries and dominant narratives.

The project will take place later this year between Sept – Oct, further details to be announced soon.

Louise Hobson is an independent curator and producer based in Cardiff. She is currently working as the Assistant Curator for Sean Edwards’ 2019 Cymru yn Fenis / Wales in Venice presentation and as a Creative Producer for Studio Response. Louise is also a member of Yellow Back Books, a collaborative project around artist books with Clare Charles, Becca Thomas and Freya Dooley, and also the collective Case Studios, with artists/curators Josefin Vargö, Sam Perry and Will Owen, exploring artistic and critical strategies through food.
