We want to recruit a new Curatorial Fellow to work with us. We host a free programme of public exhibitions and events, and our building in Birmingham is home to 22 artists in the studios. We support learning, creating numerous contexts for art and life to intersect. Our work places an emphasis on the importance of collaboration and long-term artistic research. Many of these projects take place outside of the gallery, across the city of Birmingham through our Collaborative Programme. The role will involve working across our entire programme.
This role is specifically an entry-level opportunity for an individual from a socio-economic background currently underrepresented in the arts. It is part of a wider programme called the Weston Jerwood Creative Bursaries, which is designed and run by Jerwood Arts.
How to Apply
We really want to recruit in a different way. We know that there are many barriers for people applying for jobs, especially in the cultural sector, and we want to make this process as open and supportive as possible.
We are inviting you to: send us a letter (2 x A4 max), video (3mins max), voice memo (3mins max)- whatever you are comfortable with, that tells us:
-what you are interested in
-what you’ve done recently and what motivates you
-why you want to work with us as well as the attributes and skills you have developed
-how you think you could fit into our small team and way of working.
-how you fit the eligibility criteria
Please DO NOT include your CV as it will not be considered. Please put all relevant information into your letter/video/voice note.
The closing date for all applicants is: 5pm on Friday 11 December 2020
We will contact all long-listed candidates by: 5pm on Friday 18 December 2020
There will be a second stage of the application process, in dialogue with the long-listed candidates, which will take place in January 2021.
