Grand Union Open Studios

Grand Union houses purpose-built studios providing creative, professional and secure working space for visual artists in the city.

We hold regular open studio events, giving visitors the opportunity to meet our artists and see their current works in progress.

Grand Union’s original bespoke studios at Unit 15 Minerva Works, were designed and built by design and fabrication workshop Queen and Crawford. In 2017, Grand Union opened more studios in Unit 17, designed and built by Plane Structure. These include 4 individual artist studios, a co-working residency space for Birmingham City University art and design graduates and Modern Clay, an artist-led ceramic studio.

We are delighted to announce our new Artists in Residence studio partnership with Bruntwood’s Cornwall Building during 2019-2020. Artists Joyce Treasure and Suzi Osborne will be in residence for 12 months in the specially designed co-working space at the Cornwall Buildings in Birmingham City Centre.

We are grateful to Arts Council England, Birmingham City Council, Homes England and Birmingham City University for their generous support of Grand Union Studios. If you would like to visit the studios please contact info@grand-union.org.uk to arrange an appointment.
