Adam Neal

Adam Neal’s practice centres on issues of social class categorisations. Neal utilises his immediate environment, experiences and intimate relationships that stem from a traditional ‘working-class’ upbringing. These facets act as a vehicle for his practice, allowing him to generate more coherent and pertinent work along this line of inquiry.

Working predominately with photographic and filmic processes, Neal begins to explore these multi-faceted concepts. Photography and film allow him to and translate ephemeral objects and happenings present within specific environment. Translation through these artistic processes allows Neal to document, re-present and attempt to define ‘working-class’ culture amongst contemporary societal, political and economical upheaval. His work attempts to deconstruct the traditional working-class, in order to reconstruct a new manifestation of his categorisation.
