Birmingham based artist Bharti Parmar gave a talk at Grand Union about the process of producing her new limited edition portfolio of woodblock prints, Tesserae; shapes that tessellate.
Bharti worked with master printer James Hill to produce the prints, recording his intricate processes. During the talk she shared these videos and discuss her experience from conception to production of the portfolio.
Bharti were joined by Grand Union studio holders Keith Dodds and David Rowan who also worked with her on this project. Keith is a graphic designer who developed Tesserae’s cover design. David is a photographer who has professionally documented the portfolio.
Bharti studied printmaking at the Royal College of Art and was artist in residence at the Irish Museum of Modern Art last year.
