Following the premiere at Glasgow Film Festival 2023, we are pleased to present a 4-week online screening of Sulaïman Majali’s Margaret Tait Award Commission ‘in the house of names’ and in-person panel discussion and Q&A featuring Sulaïman alongside speakers (tbc.) on Wednesday 6th March, 18:00 – 19:30.
‘in the house of names’ is a moving image work that takes the clown and the magician as devices to consider the liberatory. The work applies the poetic and conceptual strategies of the crease and the fold to move through the fugitive geography of a sleep cycle.
The panel discussion will make reference to the film and may include some clips but will not include a direct screening. The full film is available to view on our website until March 18th. The discussion will be live captioned by 121 captioning and a recording will be made available online after the event on our website.
The event will last approximately one hour and thirty minutes. Soup, samosas, and hot & cold drinks will be provided. This event is free of charge and no booking is required.
‘in the house of names’ total run time: 70 minutes
Contains flashing imagery
The Margaret Tait Commission is a LUX Scotland commission delivered in partnership with Glasgow Film, with support from Creative Scotland.
About Sulaïman
(b.1492/1771/1991/2042) Majali is concerned with performance-led research in a thinking practice that plays with image, sculpture, sound and writing expansively. Considering art as an already thinking and speaking thing, Majali brings into play rupturing, grieving and dreaming as methodologies of collapse, fleeing towards poetic and conceptual strategies to undergo the liberatory in the neurodigital, psychospiritual, ontoepistemological or otherwise (already), anyway.
