Artist Beverley Bennett is looking for 8 participants to take part in a project entitled Simon Says/Dadda, which is part of an ongoing research project working towards the production of a new artist film of the same name.
She is looking for women of colour to share stories with her about their family relationships with men and how living in a patriarchal society effects their day to day. You will be invited to cook, draw, read and listen to music collectively over a 4 week period within a relaxed friendly environment. The workshops will result in an open sharing event at Grand Union.
Workshops will commence on the 19th June – 11th July 2019.

About Simon Says/Dadda
Simon Says/Dadda is a collaborative research and development project towards the production of a new film, working with a community of black women across 3 regions in the UK. This film will collect testimonial experiences of patriarchy from over 20 women of colour. The workshops will encourage creativity and the sharing of the personal and political. It will establish a nurturing and supportive network of women across the UK that will platform under-represented voices and bodies in the art world. A public sharing event will take place in each regional location following a series of 8 workshops which will look at film, music, drawing, poetry and cooking.
