‘Thinking Futures’ was a project that invited young people to consider past, present, and future connections between communities and city infrastructures. This engagement programme aimed to develop the artistic potential of GCSE art students from Broadway Academy and Nishkam High School. Through developing new ways of experiencing the historic and contemporary architecture within Digbeth, the students’ work reflects upon their own histories and re-imagines new post-industrial futures. The project culminated in the creation of a wall hanging that features the young people’s artistic exploration of the people, places, and flora within the urban environment.
