Where would you place an election poster on the political spectrum? How about your new running trainers? Or a soft drink? We’ll attempt to map the political meaning of all of these and more in this informal workshop, led by Keith Dodds.
The recent general election saw us bombarded with political messages, both obvious and subtle. In an informal workshop that’s equal parts ‘Keywords’ by Raymond Williams and ‘5 Gold Rings’ by Phillip Schofield, we’ll attempt to make sense of it all, using online tool turned popular meme the Political Compass to map the political meaning of everything from newspapers to slogans, tv shows to trainers. Led by Keith Dodds, a graphic designer with an interest in political communication.
Food and drink will be available free of charge, to map within the workshop as well as eat. A selection of dishes popular in the British Isles, from various communities will be served both to eat and enjoy, as well as map on the political spectrum.
